I make my paddles all out of basswood from northern Wisconsin. You have to get it from north of Suring that way because, any basswood south of Suring, it’s too hard. I don’t know. It’s something to do with the countryside and that. The wood is softer from the northern part. That’s what I use. I found out that works the best. Now I make all of my paddles out of one piece. They weigh about a pound and a half when I’m done. For any size I want to make.
