Chinese painting and calligraphy Kwong Yem Han is an accomplished watercolorist and calligrapher of traditional Chinese art. Yem Han, whose American name is Edna, is experienced in sharing her art with others, having worked as an artist-in-residence in numerous schools and given demonstrations in art museums & centers for over two decades. Yem Han’s presentations feature demonstrations and discussion of Chinese calligraphy and watercolor painting, specifically the drawing of Chinese characters, Chinese watercolor techniques, and her use of “The Four Treasures of the Studio” (ink stick, ink stone, rice paper and brush). Her love of working with young people comes out in her presentations. Upon request, Yem Han will bring her “big brush” and double-edged sword for demonstration.
