Norwegian Woodcarving Becky began carving at the age of fourteen with the help of her maternal grandfather, Hans Simonson, a Norwegian immigrant. She is now a master woodcarver and a Vesterheim Gold Medal winner. Becky does a range of carving styles, including figures, acanthus, ale hens and ale bowls, kolrosing, spoons, and dragon-style. Trolls and fjord horses are two of her most popular figures. In a general program, Becky traces the history and development of Norwegian woodcarving, displays samples of many different styles and demonstrates techniques. In workshops, Becky teaches carving techniques to participants. Program Formats
