Latvian Weaving
Warrens, WI
Vera
and Mara are a mother-daughter team who are expert weavers of Latvian sashes,
beautiful belts that incorporate traditional Latvian patterns and color schemes.
Both are experienced in giving programs on the history of the craft (uses
of the weavings, why they are made that way) and the origins of the designs and
colors. Their programs include samples of completed weavings, and a
demonstration of weaving on a modified inkel loom or tablet weaving. Audience
members can try their hand too.
