Tamburitza Orchestra
Milwaukee, WI
Tamburitza are a family of fretted stringed instruments ranging in size from smaller than a mandolin to as large as a stringed bass. The members of Prazna Flasa are expert in the virtuoso playing
required of tamburitza—lots of fast complicated notes and intricate string work. The combo’s repertoire includes Serbian dance music, folk songs, and traditional life cycle ritual music like
wedding songs. In a program, members explain their instruments in addition to performing.
