Frank Montano

This is the text of Frank Montano telling about his gift, recorded June 26, 1998 by Michael Kline in Washington, D.C.

One of my friends came to my house on day and said, ‘I have a gift for you.’ And he gave me a flute. [laughs] After he gave me that flute, I used that for awhile and I played it. And it was a very good flute, it had a good spirit and everything, but it wasn’t one that I knew I would be keeping. It was a way to move on to the next part. And then I eventually I made a flute. And then I made more flutes. And then the one I was given, I handed to someone else.

What took place I really wasn’t still at the time sure what that gift was – because it didn’t take the shape of a flute, it was a spirit it took the shape of, that gift.
