 Queens of Harmony

When you sing in a quartet, you have to be sure to sing your part!

music.jpg (3460 bytes)First, listen to the four voices singing together on “I’m Building Me A Home.”

Do you hear how Dorothy, Tina and Jessie sing the same words at the same time?
Do you hear how Ella sings differently?
Ella begins her lines when the other singers pause. The harmony singers begin when Ella pauses. That’s called “counterpoint.”

Then listen to each singer’s part alone. Ella sings lead. Dorothy sings “tone,” the lowest part. Jessie sings the lower harmony and Tina sings the higher harmony.
